Online backup and cloud storage solutions are pretty cheap, and cloud-based backup solutions can wait till night to backup your data. Phones usually have backup software too.
An external hard disk is also cheap and easy to use. They usually come with automatic backup software, or you can just copy the contents of your documents, photos, music and video folders to them. It is a good idea to have two external drives, and to store one away from the other, in case of fire, theft, etc. Alternate when backing up.
