Protect your Phone

Let's take a quick security health checkup on your phone.  Your phone contains a lot of personal data, so here's a few steps you can take right now to reduce your risks if you lose your phone.
  • Do you have a backup of key data on your phone? Backup your contacts, texts, photos, music, etc.  This is easy on iPhones; use iTunes on your computer to do the job easily.  Androids have different ways to do backups, ask your carrier for instructions, or download an app.
  • Can anyone pick up your phone and access whatever they want? Use a PIN number or password, and a fingerprint if your phone has the sensor.
  • What happens if you lose your phone? Activate the "find your phone" system, where you can track and find a lost phone as well as the ability to erase your phone remotely.
  • Get an Antivirus App: Major computer antivirus companies offer free or cheap antivirus apps for your phone. Phones are increasingly being attacked with malware, and iPhones can get infeted just as can Macs--they are not immune.
